How do I find my UTR number

You would automatically be sent a Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) when you registered as self-employed or registered for self-assessment.

You can also find your UTR in your Personal Tax Account

It’s a 10-digit number; it might also be called ‘tax reference’.

Your UTR number will be on any letter that HMRC sends you.
